“dead under the rock”

The women work in the fields near the Tegatato IDP camp with their babies on their back.  They only make 1,500 shillings a day (about 75 cents), which isn’t even enough to by soap (about 2,000 shillings).  

africaJanet, 14, works in the field with her baby to make only about 1,500 shillings.


The vacant land near Tegatato where the villages were destroyed by the LRA.  Most are unable to move out of the camp because they cannot afford to leave, or they don’t have a husband or children to build them a new hut.


africaThis single mother lives in the Tegatato IDP camp caring for four children, while her other daughter lives in Gulu to get a good education.  She is only able to see her daughter about four times a month because she can’t afford to move out of the camp.
